As a fan of Tim Burton and Jonny Depp's work I sat down to watch Alice in Wonderland with i little expectation.
However this was almost immediately shot down.
This film relied far too heavily upon the way it looked.
Even though it is extremely asthetically pleasing, it is immediately let down by a poorly presented leading role by Mia Wasikowska.
I feel too much focus has been put on making Alice look inferior and dumb in comparison to her periodic peers and relatives, especially during the early dance scene....
The storyline is exceptionally weak also.
ALice returning to Wonderland promises so much yet delivers so little, and seems to have stolen a few pages out of every other fairy tale we have grown up with.
The mad hatter again is a weak character who could have been potrayed in a far more impressive way rather than the confused and depressed Hatter we see during this film.
Overall the storyline is very dissapointing and the only aspect of the show that didnt see me leave was the the fact that the film was beautiful to look at.
The 3d effects were stunning and really added a dimension that kept me in my seat, whereas if i had saw it on a conentional screen i cannot guarantee i would have seen the climax of the movie.

If it was not for all the free quality street and popcorn i would have died of boredom from Johhny Depps Acting, Every film he is in should just be called something something Caribbean, Does this man know one style of acting or what, I would like to say that the rest of the cast made up for this lack of depth however they don't, This is Tim Burton's worst film by more than mile's. Carlesburg don't make films and if they did they certainty would not make this one.
A Feast for the Eyes

Just back from watching this at the iMax in Manchester. An absolute feast for the eyes. Stunningly beautiful to look at and well worth paying that little extra to see. Excellent cast and good fun trying to work out the actor behind the character or characters in the case of Tweedledee and Tweedledum. Storyline good but a bit predictable towards the end and not quite up to the stronger beginning; hence the 4 stars. Prepare to cringe at Johnny Depp's scottish accent and his rather bizarre dance. Just look the other way! All in all a very good film; highly recommended.
