.....and then she did what?
Scott's power derives from his unique eye, the ability to compress centuries of atmosphere in mere moments of cinema and to give his actors a world of painfully exacting realism so that their merest gesture has almost religious significance. Struggling with budgets, time constraints and personality conflicts drew the best out of him. Here 20cFox gave him an open cheque, total artistic freedom, unlimited time, a massive; seemingly endless marketing campaign and hype up the ying yang.
What they got was a vapid ponderous examination of the "Alien" franchise's navel. It was as if Scott had finally lost touch with the medium and was just throwing images together to see what happened. This is the director who could actually challenge Kubrick artistically and instead he blows it all on a self-indulgent mish-mash of psuedo philosophical ramblings. Poor almost ludicrous scripting, vague direction and completely shallow interpretation of themes, there really IS less than meets the eye with Prometheus. Only Fassbender will get out of this alive.
I would not bother with this film unless you fell the need to see it for anorak film buff purposes. As a piece of cinematography it is breathtaking, as a film suffocating.
Avoid.
Good FX; very poor screenplay
As for the screenplay I have heard better on Coronation Street.
The answer lies in the credits..hundreds of people involved in the graphics but a small handful contributed to the screenplay.
Good basic plot thoroughly ruined by unbelievable characters and an over-emphasis on special effects.
had to be done thisa way
