‘The Rum Diary’, based on Hunter S. Thompson’s first novel, follows young journalist Paul Kemp as he relocates to Puerto Rico and joins a company full of world-weary characters.
Escaping the claustrophobia and paranoia of conservative 1950s New York, he starts a new assignment writing for local paper The San Juan Star and joins the rum-soaked ranks of the ex-pat community.
Working hard and playing harder, he becomes dangerously infatuated with a shady businessman’s beautiful fiancée.
Directed by Bruce Robinson, ‘The Rum Diary’ stars Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.
