S&M with Keira aside - engaging and dark film
I think we both felt that not enough was made of the influence that Spielrein had on the psychoanalytical world but the triangle of relationships, development of thought and conflict between Jung, Freud and Sprielrein played out well in this film.
Very enjoyable and different. Keira plays the misunderstood loon to great effect!
Fantastic Film not Commercial tripe but real.
Those who miss the powerful of story this film, the mind breaking developments in Psychoanalysis, I suspect would rate the Muppets as a 10 for real life performances.
method to the madness
the acting in my view was very good except for the odd bit of hamming from the normally brilliant Michael Fassbender.
the cinematography was excellent.
my main gripe would be the relevance to the film, and the factual basis, of the spanking scenes. granted David Cronenberg may argue artistic licence but i just see female exploitation. for this reason alone i've marked it down from the four stars i would otherwise have given the film.
