An unexpected party

They say movies are about two things; someone new comes to town or someone goes on a journey. The Hobbit is both as Gandalf the Grey Wizard seeks out Bilbo to complete a quest. The quest involves an epic journey. However the book is faithfully adhered too except for the eponymous title. For some reason Peter Jackson felt it would be titled an unexpected journey probably to tie in with the quest. Anyway in the book it is an unexpected party as the dwarves descend on Bilbo and upset his ordered life. Bilbo is Frodo Baggins' Cousin and at the beginning of the LOTR films it is Frodo who is gifted the ring and carries out his own quest. The Hobbit is the first book in the series and bizarrely was featured last. It is also split into 3 parts and this portion finishes at part which is to be continued. It doesn't end here but it is still a very long film albeit there are another two parts in the pipeline. It is over 3 hours long and younger viewers may be bored even if they liked the book. After all the book it for children and my boys loved the film.
