From writer and director Gauri Shinde (‘Oh Man!’), ‘English Vinglish’ sees Sridevi (‘Lamhe’), one of India’s best-loved stars, return to the big screen in a role that puts her head to head with many people’s worst enemy: the English language.
Set in New York, the film highlights how important a knowledge of English is to many immigrant people and how the mastery of it can mean the difference between confidence and achievement or obscurity and failure.
‘English Vinglish’ also features Adil Hussain (‘For Real’) and Mehdi Nebbou (‘Body of Lies’).
Contains mild language and sex references.

Kudos to all involved
Well made without much melodrama.
Knowledge of English and the way one speaks it, is an important factor in caste/class ridden Indian Society. Though the film does not blow the myth away, it shows how a middle class shy demure Indian housewife with very little knowledge of English confronts it.
Excellent movie
finally Indian cinema can stand proud!
