I thought this film was a great addition to the Texas chainsaw films it was really good although I thought some parts of the film could have been a bit better but overall the film was great
Wait for Blu Ray/DVD

A good start with a recap on the original movie from 1974. The film starts with a story line which is questionable but believable. 40 minutes in with a few good scares and jump in your seat moments. However the story then takes a turn that is both unbelievable and ridiculous. The film totally lost my buy in. The whole purpose of this was to leave it open for further sequels, rather than stick to the original concept of the original 1974 movie. The 3D effects are limited and could have been better. If you are going to see this movie at the cinema I would recommend 2D, but overall don’t waste your money. Wait for the DVD/Blu Ray or stream from a on demand service SKY/Virgin once released at home.
This is NOT a remake!

I know a lot of people online have been revolting against yet another remake of a horror classic, but this is definitely not a remake. I think it was refreshing to see the franchise brought right up to date and at the same time displaying throwbacks to the original. A lot of the remakes we've had in the recent years have expected us to forgot the originals whereas this movie encouraged us to keep it in mind.
As for the movie itself, it was a good watch. I wasn't excited about the cast beforhand but they turned out to be a strong set. The only drawback for me was predictability, but this was made up for with the design and imagery that made this film exciting. All in all, four stars out of five. I enjoyed myself and this movie is a step in the right direction for a franchise that has made some mistakes in the past. All is forgiven.
