What's the plot?

I loved this film. Missed out on 5 stars because of the last 15 minute 'detective' stuff that just wasn't needed. Despite the annoying, tutting woman sat behind me muttering this would never happen, it did. The reason it's so totally chilling. I thought the director told the story with total respect, holding off on showing any distasteful moments. The earlier stuff between the three central women is beautifully written and handled. I totally believed how this situation happened, the climax believable due to a drunk, sleazy man.
