Written by David Baddiel and starring Omid Djalili, ‘The Infidel’ is a comedy about Mahmud Nasir, a loving husband, devoted father and rather relaxed Muslim.
While he may not exactly be devout, in his heart Mahmud is a good Muslim. However, when his mother dies Mahmud’s world is turned upside down. It turns out he was adopted at birth, he’s actually Jewish, and his real name is Solly Shimshillewitz!
As he tries to deal with his new found identity crisis Mahmud turns to his friend Lenny, a drunken Jewish cabbie who agrees to give him lessons in Jewishness.
A comedy bursting at the seams with laughter.
Contains strong language, once very strong, and depictions of racism..

The Infidel
I loved it
I had my doubts about a movie with Djalili as the lead actor, having had to suffer him on a commercial for a comparison web site, but his performance is faultless, so much so I may actually go and check out that comparison web site... Richard Schiff is also excellent. Matt Lucas only makes a small appearance, thankfully.
A 5 stars without a doubt!
