The stage musical, 'Mamma Mia!' hits the big screen.
Meryl Streep leads an all-star cast in the feature-film adaptation of the beloved musical, bringing the timeless lyrics and melodies of iconic super group ABBA to cinema audiences.
‘Mamma Mia’ is the story of Donna (Streep) who is about to attend the wedding of Sophie (Amanda Seyfried), the spirited daughter she's raised alone. For Sophie's wedding, Donna has invited her two lifelong best girlfriends - practical and no-nonsense Rosie (Julie Walters) and wealthy, multi-divorcee Tanya (Christine Baranski) - from her one-time backing band, Donna and the Dynamos. But Sophie has secretly invited three guests of her own.
Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgård, Christine Baranski, Julie Walters, Amanda Seyfried and Dominic Cooper join Streep in this celebration of a mother, a daughter and three possible dads.
‘Mamma Mia’ the stage musical was a massive hit around the world, and this is a great opportunity to see a brilliant performance brought to the big screen.

I'm sorry, but I don't think this film is as good as the whole world seems to think it is.
If you think you can cope sitting through 108 minutes of ABBA songs with a storyline that would be great without the music, then this is the film for you. Even if the songs hadn't all been Abba it would be a lot better, and yes I know that defeats the whole point of Mamma Mia, and I know they just made a film of the stage musical too but I wouldn't see the stage version either.
The actors and actresses are.. well the young ones are quite wooden and the older ones are the only characters that add anything to the film.
The cheesy backing singers that appear from nowhere.. well did anybody else see this film and hate them all?
Basically, the story is good, the endless ABBA tunes were bad. The older actresses were good, the younger ones were bad. The singing wasn't that great, and although I'm generally a huge fan of cheesiness, this crossed way over the line into be wanting to hit my head off a wall.
I don't understand why anyone would want to see this at all, but especially more than once, and I don't understand why this is still in the cinemas.
The ultimate sing-a-long!

I was persuaded to go along to see this film, by friends. I wasn't looking forward to it but, to my surprise, (never having been a great Abba fan), I left the cinema singing. So far I have seen it four times and have just made plans to watch it on the big screen one more time......... ......... can't wait for the DVD!!!!!!
