Okay but not brilliant

The film was okay but pretty strung-out. I enjoyed the 3D experience more than the film itself.
Scrooge - moving, deep & brilliant!

Charles Dickens would be thrilled to bits if he knew how his stories were still being screen written in the 21st century! I loved the graphics, especially the real 3D flying scenes, but the scenes I particularly liked were (i ) ghost of future scenes when Scrooge was miniatured, and the black horses were freaky, and (ii) ghost of present when he spilled his marbles and the floor disappeared beneath them.
I thought that most of the real message would be beyond the very young audience members including my own 10 year old, and some of the scenes were quite scary for under 12's but if they didn't get the real message they probably didn't really understand what was so scary about the scary bits!
The final scenes were also quite emotionally touching - I have a touch of scrooge in me, but the film made me reflect the same way that Scrooge was made to reflect on his attitude!
Great film, great graphics, great story - thank goodness for authors like Dickens!!!

Fantastic but beware the scarey bits with little ones

This film is amazing and the 3D Imax experience is beautiful and very intense, it's not really about the images coming out 'at you' but you being a part of it.
I didn't expect any less having seen and loved Polar Express, but do be careful if taking little ones - the animation and 'jumpy bits' are really very startling and graphic and the sound very, very loud.
The dialogue, thankfully, is in keeping with the novel and language of the time and not, as I'd feared, modernised horribly but again this may mean that some of the understanding is a little tricky for children - overall though I would say that the sheer pleasure of the whole experience and ingenuity of the animation means that nothing is lost.
We're going again next week!
