Most would agree that Daniel Day-Lewis is an /good/excellent actor, however, his talents are completely wasted on this boring movie, and certainly up for question as to why he would spend so long (apparenly 2 years) getting 'into character'?

What Was All The Fuss About?

Talk about mind numbingly boring!! I sat through the whole film, although I hasten to say many others didn't, and came out feeling tired and frustrated. It had the potential to be an American epic, the scenary, big name actors and a good basic plot but it failed dreadfully. The whole thing felt hollow. There was no depth in the charactors and while Daniel Day Lewis did a lot of shouting you came out knowing no more about him than when the film started. The young boy playing his son had no passion, even when he had a right to after being abandoned and the preacher, who had the potential of being a very scary charactor was insipid and weak. You couldn't 'get into' the film because it wouldn't let you. Even the music was forgettable.

Yawn Yawn

A film with lots of hype. Shame it turned out to be boring, dull and empty in terms of content. The story is shallow and really not exciting ..... you can guess what is going to happen next throughout the movie. The ending is really disappointing. We left the cinema exclaiming "what a poor ending" and "what a dull storyline". Unfortunately there is nothing good to write about this film. The preview was more exciting than the film.
