I would have liked this film more if I hadn't seen the original. Don't get me wrong, it's a great idea and Alba is a great performer but for me it doesn't hold the same amount of depth as the original. The film seems a little to faced paced at some points but the scares are there and the creepyness that made the original such a classic are there too. My advice is if you've not seen the original and like scary movies then you're in safe hands. If you've seen the original don't expect anything more than you've already seen.
If anyone is interested in the original movies check out The Eye and The Eye 2 on DVD. Stay clear of The Eye Infinity though, lol, if you watch it you'll understand why.

What a Disappointment!

This film was not remotely scary, or subtle. I think the producers were making it on the cheap and thought that a few screeching ghosts would scare everyone to death ..............they didn't!

No story, no tension, no thrills, nothing unexpected. I thought the whole thing was more like a children's film.

Pretty girl playing the lead role, but that's about the only thing good that I can say about it.

The Eye starts as you'd expect from a film of this genre and you've all been there before... getting to know and understand the characters, setting the scene to an over excessive level, blah blah blah (you know the drill). What this film seems to do what others in it's category do not is pull you into the story to create a magnificent atmosphere. Any film of today has the ability to create good special effects on a reasonable budget and this film is no exception, the eerie feeling you get around the cinema whilst watching the eye is fantastic and the sharp scare tactics are utilised cleverly throughout. The acting does not disappoint either... which again is a surprise; this is partly contributed to a slick fast moving script with Alba (Jessica) shining bright from start to finish with supporting cast members equally as good. The story concentrates on the 'I see dead people' syndrome, but rest assured The Eye delivers far more scares than most films of this category that I have seen in recent years. To summarise The Eye will not appeal to everyone but if you enjoy jumping three feet off your chair for the duration of a movie it will certainly hit the spot and will leave you with a good feeling, that this genre of movie still has life and a reasonably good helping of deaths!
