Jack Black, Michael Cera, Oliver Platt, David Cross
What´s the plot?
In the caveman comedy, ‘Year One’, Jack Black and Michael Cera star as two hapless hunter-gatherers. When the lazy duo are banished from their primitive village, they set off on an epic adventure through the ancient world.

‘Year One’ promises to be a comedy that really will go down in history.

If you liked ‘Juno’ and ‘Be Kind Rewind’, you’ll love ‘Year One’.

It'll go down in history as pretty awful

I went to see this film with the same anticipation as I did with 'Be Kind Rewind' and alas I was disapointed in the same way.
The film did have some amusing parts and quotes, which made me laugh, but the majority of the film just wasn't funny. The jokes they insisted on bleeding out were immature and pathetic (urinating on his face...really?)
The plot was also illogical. There were no clear links between the different eras, and I ended up wishing for the film to end.
Furthermore the final annoyance was the heavy rain, despite the lack of clouds.
Conclusion;
Don't waste your money; the few moments where there is some wit do not compensate for the general poorness of the film.
It wasn't the worst film I've seen, but its not far off.

A missed opportunity

Dissapointing. This sort of thing was done a hundred times better many years ago in Monty Python's Life of Brian. Watch that after watching this, and find out where the jokes should have been! It was watchable, and did make me smile in a few places, but surely a comedy should make you laugh? A missed opportunity.

Expecting another take on the old evolutionary ideas I had a horribly rude awakening! This film takes the micky out of biblical narratives, and in the name of so called humour glorifys Sodom and Gomorrah and all that they stood for! All round a bad film which I left feeling very ill!
