The wait is over - Batman is back!
Christian Bale is back as the legendary crime fighter Batman, who is taking on Gotham’s evil new mastermind, The Joker (Heath Ledger).
‘The Dark Knight’ follows on from ‘Batman Begins’ seeing Bruce Wayne’s alter ego taking to the streets and one by one putting the bad guys behind bars while making Gotham a safer place. But there’s a new criminal in town with every intention of ruining Batman’s crusade and bringing the city under his own control. The Joker’s psychotic insanity spreads fear across the city, rallying an army of followers to join his campaign and kill Batman in the process.
‘The Dark Knight’ also co-stars Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman as key figures supporting Bruce Wayne in his crusade against crime. Gary Oldman returns as Commissioner Gordon and Aaron Eckhart leads as the new District Attorney, Harvey Dent.

Better than my brother said

My brother told me not to bother, but as everyone else seemed to be enjoying it I went. What I enjoyed most about it was that the plot kept going, just as I thought things were winding up - they weren't. What I didn't like were a few messy loose ended bits of the plot that didn't hang together as well as the rest of the film, no unravelled threads though.
Plenty has been written about how good the joker is, so no need to reiterate but I watched him eagle eyed for any overdoing it and admired the way he kept it just within bounds, great stuff.
I don't know what my brother didn't like about it, he couldn't articulate it, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Perhaps he was remembering more the style when Arnie was the iceman, in which case I agree , it wasn't as comic book as that one, it was I suppose you could say more realistic, notwithstanding the fact that it's a batman movie. A typical illustration of this might be the Joker's makeup, it was smudged, deliberately so presumably, and made his character all the more convincing for it.

What a Great Film

I remember the first film and with all the big names it was Christian Bale that stole the show, But this time it was all Heath Ledger, his act is one makes him the best Joker I've ever seen he was funny and the MOST evil you could ever think of. I think this is the best film I have seen in a long time.
