What´s the plot?

Adapted from John Boyne's best-selling novel, ‘The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas’ is a fictional story told through the eyes of an eight year old boy largely shielded from the reality of World War II. This unforgettable tale follows a forbidden friendship that forms between Bruno, the son of a Nazi commandant, and Shmuel, a Jewish boy held captive in a concentration camp. Though the two are separated physically by a barbed-wire fence, their friendship grows and their lives become inescapably intertwined.

Wow. I have to say that this is one of the most moving films I have ever seen. I was reduced to sucking my thumb by the end, and afterwards my friend had to drag me out of my seat to stop me staring at the blank screen. I had already read the book, and didn't expect it to be anywhere near as good - but it proved me wrong. Go and see it!

Not a 'nice' film but a powerful one, like The Brave One, has an effect on you well beyond seeing the movie. A horrific time in history and dealt with sensitively with excellent performances from the two boys make this a film you must see in my opinion.

An intelligent, thought-provoking, evocative film.

The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas is a superb film in all apsects for one the story was interesting, the acting was brilliant from all involved particularly the two boys who acted beyond there years, which made the film more tense and made you feel as though you were sharing the emotions with them. This is also done with the music which was lovely. The photography was beautifully shot and when at times they were having fun it made you smile and the way the story was handled was perfect as it is a very sensitive issue. The ending is disturbing and may put some people off but for me it made the film more realistic as it highlights the truly terrfiying time the Jews suffered and comments on the consequences of the Germans actions particularly on the German boys father and evokes you to feel the sadness of how the jews were treated but also how the German boy felt torn between his friend and family and there values.
Another positive point about the film is the theme behind it of friendship which is a positive message that it can overcome any barriers as the two friends stayed together even they didn't realize what was going to happen to them. An amazing film to watch, which deserves oscars and if you don't believe this review just read the others for this film and that should convince you.
