I saw Pan's Labyrinth and was shocked by the violence in it. This is worse. At times it's digsusting. I don't mean it will make you nauseous. I mean it's mentally disgusting. Mainly due to the seemingly sadistic director and his use of very gratuitous violence.
Having said that, it's very well done, for the most part, an exact duplicate of the original (FBI = lunch on legs). Which you should probably watch instead.
The lack of David Hyde Pearce (Abe) was very disappointing, I tried to get over it, but he was really good in the last one. The Prince was a great character.. The Princess and the King barely existed. They would have helped integrate him more into the story I think. A lot was made of the Golden Army, very little of any other creature. Which would have been alright but the Prince kinda incited a civil war.
It's nothing like "The Dark Knight". I hate that line at the end of the previews. Puts me right off Odeon

We didn't expect a good film as I found the first one watchable but not great; going to the cinema seems pot luck most of the time
however, we were pleasantly surprised by how entertaining this was!
really enjoyed it

This is a great movie with plenty of action and a few wisecracks on the way.
Ron Perlman is excellent as the lead character and is abley backed up by a great cast including the lovely Selma Blair.
Only downside for me was the walking teapot that took control of the unit, the character became more and more irritating as the film went on.
Give it a look, chill out and enjoy.
