I've always been a bit 'on and off' with the whole X Files thing. Like many TV series it started off brilliantly but quickly became too predictable and rather than stopping at a high point the series went on well past it's sell-by date. Not surprisingly then this film has that same sort of feel about it. The plot is as thin as paper from the outset and the performances are all a bit tired which is a great shame because there is still huge potential for this sort of conspiracy theory drama. The cold North American client did induce a certain chilly element to the story but this has been done some many times before it didn't really add that much to the story.

If you are a die-hard X-Files fan you should wait until it is available on video

If you are tired of countless explosions and continuous CGI, like a movie with a story, a grown up relationship and some thought provoking ideas, go see The X-files: I Want to Believe!
