Kirov Ballet - Swan Lake
Swan Lake, composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, is a ballet in four acts and based on Russian folk tales, as well as an ancient German legend. It tells the story of Odette, a princess turned into a swan by an evil sorceror’s curse. Most ballet companies base their productions on the 1895 revival of Marius Petipa, first staged for the Imperial Ballet at the Mariinsky Theatre. For this revival, Tchaikovsky’s score was revised by the St. Petersburg Imperial Theatre’s chief conductot and composer Riccardo Drigo.
