NT Live - All's Well That Ends Well

CLOSE
NT Live - All's Well That Ends Well beamed live from the National Theatre and screening for one night only in selected ODEON cinemas.

The feisty but lowly Helena falls in love with Bertram, a haughty count. To gain his hand she is set a string of impossible tasks. Even if accomplished, they can hardly guarantee his love. He refuses to bed her and yet says he'll only be hers if she bears his child; and he lusts after another. Nevertheless, our heroine, whether wisely or no, refuses to give him up.

Set against a background of sexism, snobbery and a battle between the generations, Shakespeare's All's Well That Ends Well turns fairytale logic on its head. A wondrous, bittersweet story.

About NT Live:
The pilot season of NT Live, the new initiative by the National Theatre to broadcast live performances of plays onto cinema screens in the UK and worldwide, launched on June 25th with Nicholas Hytner’s production of Phèdre with Helen Mirren, Dominic Cooper and Margaret Tyzack. It is followed by All’s Well That Ends Well; and, in early 2010, by Terry Pratchett’s Nation, adapted by Mark Ravenhill; and Alan Bennett’s new play The Habit of Art with Michael Gambon, Alex Jennings and Frances de la Tour.

NT Live performances will be filmed live at the National Theatre in high definition and broadcast via satellite to selected ODEON cinemas.

Marianne Elliot's highly acclaimed production of Shakespeare's All’s Well That Ends Well - in cinemas this October.

'Marianne Elliott's wondrous revival... a fairytale for grown ups.' Guardian

‘It is so richly conceived, such a pleasure in every detail that I'd love to see it all over again.' Observer

'The performances are uniformly excellent...Marianne Elliott's direction has a clarity not short of visionary.' Evening Standard

‘A masterpiece’ Sunday Times
