“We wanted to take the pirate genre to a new level, one that had all the thrills and romance that you would expect from a big adventure, but with imaginative, unforgettable characters, state-of-art special effects while taking off in whole new directions...”
These are the words from producer Jerry Bruckheimer when he first started to develop what was to become one of the world’s most famous film franchises. ‘Pirates of Caribbean’ not only breathed new life into a genre, but totally reinvigorated and reinvented it. And this is why audiences around the world have been loving the enigmatic Jack Sparrow and his adventures for years. On the 26th of May the long awaited ‘Salazar’s revenge’ will hit the big screen and cover the final (apparently) chapter in this long journey. Bringing together new and old characters in a story that goes back to the origins of the Pirates Universe.

Pirates Of The Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge - Released May 25th
Book NowIt’s no secret that that 'Salazar’s Revenge' not only continues the story from where it ended in 'On Stranger Tides' (Jack hasn’t yet managed to figure out the magic that keeps the Black Pearl contained in the bottle, but it will also link back to the previous three chapters. Perhaps ever further, exploring the unknown story of young Jack.
So what do we know so far?
Before the Pearl and before Davy Jones, there was Salazar....
We all know that Jack’s biggest enemy was the vicious Davy Jones and that part of his misfortunes was related with their bargain...until now! It looks like Jack was always up to no good and irked someone else very badly when he was a young pirate, someone named Salazar. This is recounted in the trailer’s first minutes, and no doubt will be repeated near the start of movie. Jack’s pirating ways clearly riled Salazar while he was alive, to such an extent that he chased Jack across the highest seas. And it seems Jack outwitted Salazar, eventually causing him to drown. But Salazar is now back with an army of ghosts ready to get his revenge… But what is the real deal between them? The feeling is there’s still something untold about Jack’s past…
Orlando Bloom is back! But he doesn’t look pretty anymore…
Fans of Bloom will be thrilled he’s back. His name appears on the official credits and he even shows his face for few seconds in the trailer. But Will Turner doesn’t look like he’s doing well... The third Pirates film, ‘At World’s End’, concludes with Will becoming the new Davy Jones and having to part ways with his wife Elizabeth (Keira Knightley). However, as a result of the Davy Jones curse, Will wouldn’t be able to set foot on land again to see Elizabeth for ten years. A post-credits scene for 'At World’s End' shows Will returning to reunite with both Elizabeth and their now ten-year old son – and it’s this scene that may come back into play in an important way in 'Salazar’s Revenge'. The fact that Will looks like he’s changing from his human form may suggests he didn’t break the Davy Jones curse...
Henry is Will’s son
On his quest to find the Poseidon Trident, Jack will buddy up with a young sailor in the Royal Navy named Henry. One of the most popular early fan theories was that Henry is Will Turner’s son, and as his name is now listed in the credits as Henry Turner that seems to be confirmed. But how does it affect the story? Most likely Henry will be on his own quest to seek a means to free his father Will, presumably going after the Trident to achieve this.
Introducing Carina Smith
New comer Carina Smith (Kaya Scodelario - Maze Runner, Skins) is a strong woman who fights against the academic rules that don’t allow women to study. She eventually comes in possession of a diary with clues that would lead to the Trident of Poseidon, and that explains why she will be part of the team with Jack and Henry. But what makes her character even more intriguing is her desire to unravel the mystery of where she comes from and discover her unknown father. The main speculation? Someone called Barbossa....
Family reunited?
Although Knightley’s appearance in the international trailer seems to confirm Elizabeth’s return to the film is finally happening, we don’t know yet if the role will be central or not. Some say that Keira Knightley’s character will only appear in a small cameo during the end credits, some think she will be finally reunited will Will. However more excitingly some say her appearance supposedly sets up Elizabeth to play a more prominent role in a possible Pirates of the Caribbean 6. If only we could get confirmation of those rumours, it would be a complete pirate party!
