Buddies in arms

“Clown or Frankie?” says Mark Wahlberg to Denzel Washington in 2 Guns as they get ready to rob a bank in Bozo the clown and Frankenstein’s Monster masks respectively. Iceland’s Baltasar Kormákur (Contraband) faces a parallel quandary in this action caper, which struggles to balance its jokey tone with industrial levels of violence.

It’s not only chickens that get their heads blown off as Washington’s undercover DEA agent and Wahlberg’s clandestine naval intelligence officer attempt to bring Edward James Olmos’ Mexican drug lord to book without disclosing their true identities, least of all to each other…..

Mark and Denzel together is, action, fun and entertainment. The films plot is good, the twist is good and overall the entertainment value is deffinately there in this film. Great comical lines in the film. 2Guns and Pain & Gain both top films! 7.5/10

Every done before and better but still entertaining

2 Guns is an entertaining watch. Wahlberg, to my surprise (not a believer), is the most pleasing aspect of the film delivering a solid, often humorous, and very watchable performance(a rarity for Wahlberg in my opinion). Its a fairly neat story which shows real promise midway through only to be let down by the second half and when the plot just becomes to confused. Final stand off is Tarrantino-esque however no where near as well crafted. I wouldn't normally pay to watched Wahlberg nor a film like this without having read reviews (arrived late for initial film so opted for 2 Guns blind)and whilst its far from flawless its a few hours at the cinema well spent.
