Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes

Moderate violence, threat, infrequent strong language.

About this Film

Following on from 2011's 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes', an apish Andy Serkis returns as chimp king Caesar, the leader of a primate army that is preparing for war.

The story picks up as human civilization has been all but decimated by the proliferation of the deadly Simian flu virus. The small band of human survivors that remain on Earth attempt to forge a fragile peace with the genetically evolved apes, but it's soon apparent that they are heading for a full-blown interspecies war.

'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' is directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield).

Total Film - 4/5 Stars

Two tribes go to war…

What a difference a decade makes. In 2001, Fox execs were still scratching their heads over where to take their ailing, 35-year-old Planet Of The Apes franchise after the critical drubbing dished out to Tim Burton’s big-budget B-movie reboot. It took them a while – 10 years in fact – to reach a solution: Rupert Wyatt’s game-changing prequel, Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes.

Doing away with the traditional actors-in-suits approach, Wyatt employed Oscar-winning Kiwi geniuses WETA Digital to create photorealistic, performance-captured simians and gave us a film that melded cutting-edge FX spectacle with a surprisingly affecting cautionary tale of corporate greed, animal cruelty and science getting ahead of itself… Critics and audiences agreed: the franchise had its edge back.

This was entertaining from the very first scene. go with an open mind as some of it might be far fetched but it was still able to keep my attention.
