Directed by David Alden, 'Peter Grimes' is of Benjamin Britten's greatest operas and a true British masterpiece. Based on the poem 'The Borough' by George Crabbe, 'Peter Grimes' sees the lead of the same name accused of mistreating and murdering his apprentice. A fisherman, he is mistrusted by the villagers and as he takes on a new apprentice events seem to repeat themselves and trouble escalates to an enthralling and tragic climax.
Set in a coastal village of Suffolk, the music depicts the restless sea , some of the most evocative music ever written.
