The opera that propelled Verdi to international fame tells the story of ‘Nabucco’, based on the life of the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar, who conquered Jerusalem.
The invincible Babylonian army marches on the holy city of Jerusalem, and all seems lost for the Israelites. But they hold Fenena, Nabucco’s daughter, as a hostage, and hope to be able to save their city by using her as leverage.
Legendary baritone Placido Domingo takes on the role of ‘Nabucco’ for the Met Opera, conducted by his long-time collaborator James Levine.
Sung in Italian with English subtitles.
