The water nymph 'Rusalka' has fallen in love with a human prince and longs to be human to marry him. When her wish is granted she is taken to the castle to be wed.
However the nymph is intimidated by the festivities and runs from the Prince, and he leaves her for another girl. Heartbroken 'Rusalka' returns to the water leaving the Prince full of remorse.
Mary Zimmerman brings her wondrous theatrical imagination to Dvorak's fairytale of love and longing, rejection and redemption.
