About this Film

Vin Diesel explodes back onto the big screen in 'Riddick', the latest chapter in the story of the galactic fugitive with a price on his head and army of bounty hunters on his tail.

Left for dead on a desert planet, he is soon fighting for his life against its alien inhabitants and forced to send a message help. However, his SOS alerts his pursuers to his whereabouts and his rescuers become his hunters as he now faces two equally deadly foes.

'Riddick' is once more written and directed by David Twohy (The Fugitive).

Very average story line that followed up from the previous film. Acting wise, Vin diesel did a very good job, showing a venerable side to riddick, he is human. But the story for me had to few of them badass moments than riddick fans love.

Still a Beast

Vin Diesel reprises his iconic role as the forever hunted Riddick. It is definitely one for the fans as with the third installment of many trilogies, but hey, I am a fan. Diesel's real life age is mirrored by the slightly softer character we are introduced to at the beginning of the film. He must rebuild and re-find his inner beast. But no worries, it is still there and it works quite well when we see a little more of this beast being nurtured than we have before. As with several Diesel films, he is easily the strongest actor in the film. This is not because he will be collecting an Oscar anytime soon but more because he too frequently signs up to have C list actors talk back at him. The film blends some elements of what made Pitch black great and easily the strongest film in series with 'Aliens' style platoon banter. This makes for a good blend for the majority, apart from the stark contrast between the treatment of Private Vasquez in Aliens and Dahl in Riddick. Oh dear, you a producer on this outing too Sir. So there are plot weaknesses and story holes, characters and actors that let the side down, but there are many outstanding examples of cinema throughout the decades that have all of these too. I am not for one moment suggesting that Riddick is in that category but it is still fun and the lone hunter still has his appeal.
