The Boxtrolls

Mild violence, threat.

About this Film

Lovingly-crafted stop-motion animation 'The Boxtrolls' tells the tale of a young boy's adventure with the Boxtrolls, a group of adorable, underground-dwelling monsters.

Inhabiting caves below the streets and combing through people's rubbish, the kind and quirky Boxtrolls are misunderstood by humans, with the exception of Eggs - an orphan boy they have raised as their own. When the lovable monsters find themselves under threat from an exterminator, Eggs must try to save his adoptive family.

'The Boxtrolls' is based on Alan Snow's book 'Here Be Monsters!' and is produced by Laika, the animation studio behind 'Coraline' and 'ParaNorman'.

I really enjoyed this film,I took my 7 year old daughter and she loved it. She didn't get scared or upset with the movie we would watch it again.

We took a group of 7, 9 and 10 yr olds - not one of them enjoyed it - dull, hideous, violent and dark. Killing mentioned a lot . Animation is artistic certainly not like happy Despicable Me films !!

Great film

I love this movie. There's a few puns and still suitable for kids. People are commenting about some scenes not being suitable for kids. ITS A PG, suitable for general viewing, some scenes may be unsuitable for young children!!!

loved it

Unlike others, I loved this film. So did my friends 6 and 3 year old. In fact we are coming to see it again Sunday. There was nothing grotesque in the film. And I think these people must be hypersensitive. Th film was beautifully made with great detail. And a brilliant sense of humour.I think it is very unfair it has the stars it has. As it deserves much better.
