About this Film

Victoria And Abdul

ODEON says...
'Victoria And Abdul’ chronicles the unlikely true story of the friendship between Queen Victoria and a young Indian clerk called Abdul, who had travelled to England for the Golden Jubilee.

He’d expected to wait tables, but found himself working as Victoria’s personal attendant. Within a year, he had become a powerful figure at court; but their controversial friendship nearly led to a revolt in the royal household.
A true story of a friendship that survived every attempt to destroy it, ‘Victoria And Abdul’ sees Judi Dench reprise the role of Queen Victoria, 20 years after first playing her in ‘Mrs Brown’.

A drama based on a true story that is probably not in history books, as some facts have been hidden from history. It left lots of questions and thoughts in mind. This movie made me laugh, cry and enjoy every part of it. I truly advise you to see.

Very interesting

Not normally my thing - was expecting it to be a bit kitschy - but was actually very watchable with plenty of humour and great set design and cinematography. Didn't spare us a sad ending either, and rightly so.

But true (apparently). Judy Dench is fantastic. The story is difficult to swallow. Mildly entertaining

Loved this, a real eye opener to the life of the royals of that era, well acted , sad at some of the reactions if accurate to her friendship with Abdul, would watch again very enjoyable.......well worth a watch!
