Perry Bar in Birmingham saw the first ODEON cinema open in 1930, and established the brand as not only somewhere to watch films, but somewhere to experience them too. Iconic art deco architecture and the very latest technology became synonymous with ODEON where you didn’t just go to see a film, you went to the cinema.
Today we are owned by AMC Theatres, the largest movie exhibition company in the world, and our passion for film and the whole cinema experience is so deep-rooted that it is embodied in everything we do. We’re determined to give every guest a great experience every time they visit, and so continuously strive to innovate and improve our hospitality and services.
We have always been at the forefront of cinematic experience: both IMAX and ISENSE offer extraordinary cinema viewing, and we also operate London’s BFI IMAX which is the largest cinema screen in the UK. We have the UK’s biggest cinema loyalty scheme - ODEON Première Club - with over 2 million members. And in 2016 we launched our popular Limitless card – offering guests the chance to see all the films they want, as often as they like.
We also offer so much more than popcorn and soft drinks. We now have Costa Coffee in many of our cinemas, a superb cocktail lounge called Ambar at some sites, or our Gallery offering includes unlimited popcorn, nachos and soft drinks in other locations. And The Lounge is the ultimate in luxury cinema-going.
We pride ourselves in the very best cinema experience: cutting-edge technology and the widest choice of experiences (this extends way beyond the box office – we also screen live sports and cultural events and special screenings for specific groups too).
The iconic ODEON cinema in London’s Leicester Square officially unveils three brand-new outdoor digital LED screens.
Launched at the World premiere of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire on Monday 11th November 2013, the biggest of the three screens is one of the largest outdoor screens in Europe and further cements the status of ODEON Leicester Square as the home of the film premiere and the most famous cinema in the UK.
The new screens will be seen by the 240,000+ people who walk through the square every day. For premieres the screens will really come to life, creating a more interactive experience with the red carpet being displayed live on screens as well as the faces of some of the thousands of spectators who show up.
We don't like rules for rules' sake.
That way, everyone that works here at ODEON is empowered to tackle the really important things like being Fanatical About Film and providing the best guest experience. Sociable and inclusive sums ODEON up nicely.
It's not often that you get to experience a small company culture in a big, successful group - but it's apparent here from day one. Sure, we're growing and successful, and there's a pace and energy here that you won't find anywhere else. There's always something new and exciting on the horizon to keep everyone challenged.
