Why you will go loco for Coco!

Full of wit, music, color and good feelings, the latest Disney-Pixar's gem 'Coco' is the perfect family film to start 2018 in cinemas! Find out the four reasons why you will get crazy about this adorable character and the Dia de los Muertos!

‘Coco’ follows the adventures of a 12-year-old boy named Miguel, who finds himself in the Land of the Dead while on a quest to prove his talent as a musician.

His family has banned music for generations, but Miguel is determined to defy them and follow in the footsteps of his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz. But when he’s magically transported to the vibrant and colourful Land of the Dead, he sets out to discover the true story of his family’s history.

From the director of ‘Toy Story 3’ comes Pixar’s ‘Coco’, an extraordinary journey into the afterlife to solve an ancient family mystery.

1. It's among Pixar's best films in years!

Coco follows the best  Pixar's tradition bringing its elements to unexpected levels: it is a tale told with considerable wit and while it's probably one of Pixar’s funniest films, it also has a genuine tenderness that will warm everyone's heart more than ever.  Be ready for a lot of laughs and a big emotional punch!

  • Coco won the Golden Globe as Best Animated Film and it's nominated for a BAFTA in the same category!

2. The animation is a feast for the eyes!

Coco is aesthetically beautiful. Where the film shines most brightly - literally - is in its vibrant visuals! A palette of fluorescent greens, blues, yellows and oranges dominate all the film and you'll fall in love with the Land of the Dead, which is not a fearsome place, but rather a never-ending skeleton party conducted in a glorious multi-coloured city !

  • The film is directed by Lee Unkrich, the animation genius behind masterpieces like Finding Nemo and Toy Story 2 & 3.  A name you can trust!

3. The music will blow your mind!

Music is central in the plot and it makes for a truly amazing soundtrack! The score brings different elements from the Mexican music and culture,  delivering a music style never heard before in any animated film.  Coco is not a musical, no one breaks out into song in order to narrate what is happening, but all characters purposely sing and play music, since this is cultural important.

  • Coco is voiced by newcomer Anthony Gonzalez, who really can sing like an angel!

4. It brings us closer together!

Coco teaches us the importance of family, heritage and diversity.  So far, this is one of the most respectful films ever made, where every effort is made to present the importance of respecting different cultures.  Coco is one of those films with the right balance between incredible fun and important lessons for your kids - and for adults too!

  • The film production spent several months in Mexico to bring the Latino culture to the screen in the most detailed way, involving several Mexican musicians and singers in the making.

Coco hits cinemas on 19th of January. Take part in this amazing journey with ODEON!
