About this Film

Blinded By The Light

ODEON says...
Set in 1987, during the austere days of Thatcher's Britain, 'Blinded By The Light' is a joyous, coming-of-age story about a teenager who learns to live life, understand his family and find his own voice through the words and music of Bruce Springsteen. 'Blinded By The Light' is inspired by British journalist Sarfraz Manzoor's memoir "Greetings From Bury Park."

Cringingly bad

Reviewer: FilmLover22Date: 2019-08-15

Shocked by all of these positive reviews. Total eye roll cringe central. Well-meaning but so bloody bad. Shame they didn’t spend as much time on the script as they did sourcing all the period detail. And just because a story’s true doesn’t mean it makes an interesting/exciting film. Plus it went on, and on and on…

The Boss rules!

Reviewer: GKODate: 2019-08-10

Good acting and great story premise. Not a bad movie to lose yourself into for 117 mins of rollicking "The Boss" fun and 1980s escapism. Strong directing kept the flow relevant, through a third act slowdown. Distinctively British. Highly recommended!

Entertainment for the heart - film critic proof! Great way to spend a couple of hours. Even made me start to listen to Springsteen- better late than never!

Fresh air

Reviewer: charles0207Date: 2019-08-10

Breath of fresh air in the desert of current offerings. Feel good, true to genre British film in the current eighties musical trend. Features the Thatcher disaster, the far right, cross-cultural and inter-generational conflict and a light romance.
