About this Film

Mary Queen of Scots

ODEON says...
Battle Royal - Mary Stuart Versus Queen Elizabeth I

Nominated for 3 BAFTA Film Awards including Supporting Actress.

‘Mary, Queen Of Scots’ and Elizabeth I of England were cousins, with each fearing and admiring the other. But their hope for two kingdoms united would ultimately collapse into war.

When Mary gave birth to a child who would be heir to both Scotland and England, Elizabeth was forced to go to war to protect her crown. As both attempted to rule as women in a man’s world, their conflict would change the course of history.

Saoirse Ronan stars as ‘Mary, Queen Of Scots’ alongside Margot Robbie as Elizabeth I in this riveting historical drama.

This movie was really good and acted by two brilliant main actresses for the main roles. I love the story and I love everything about it. The costumes are brilliant too. A must watch.

Great acting by the 2 queens & wonderful scenery...Downside, poor editing scenes jumped around, strayed too far from true historical content, gratuitous sex scenes, history rewritten in many places to appease present day audience...Overall poor

A solid film but i do feel they bent the truth of history to pander to the (yawn) social justice brigade. Getting tiresome now. The two leads were superb although Margot Robbie was vastly short changed re screen time.

Some historical stories belong in a mini-series, this is one of them. Both lead actresses make the most of the material, but it is a jumbled, historically inaccurate mess.
