About this Film

The Children Act

ODEON says...
‘The Children Act’ tells the story of a judge who’s asked to rule on the case of a young boy, suffering from cancer, whose parents won’t allow a blood transfusion.

It’s a simple medical procedure, and it could save his life – but the family are Jehovah’s Witnesses, and they consider transfusions against their beliefs. And yet, because the boy is legally a minor, the judge can overrule his parents’ wishes if they’re not what’s best for him.

Based on the novel by Ian McEwan, ‘The Children Act’ stars Emma Thompson, Fionn Whitehead and Stanley Tucci.

Very Moving film

A film you will think about afterwards. Emma Thompson is superb (touch of the Helen Mirrens here - she is still SO attractive). Unusual story - an exercise in 'balance' -the legal dilemma - Right and Wrong all mixed up but somebody has to make decisn

Must be seen

I’m not one to judge, but the admirable and involving The Children Act has a lot going for it, not least Emma Thompson. It is entertaining, provocative, intelligent and even memorable. It must be seen. It deserves it. http://www.derekwinnert.com/the-children-act-2017-emma-thompson-stanley-tucci-fionn-whitehead-movie-review/

Seldom do I give 5 stars. I was not expecting to enjoy this, partic as I am not a big Emma T fan. To my surprise I found it a very good, grown up film. Emma T was brilliant. I cannot remember 100 minutes passing so engrossed.
