The first Paddington feature was such a hit that a sequel was practically inevitable. When a character is considered a national treasure, however, the pressure to do him justice is even greater than usual. Director Paul King and his creative team seem to have struck the right note by taking the beloved bear through an emotional and perilous journey that will reduce many a viewer to tears.
We caught up with the cast and the key figures behind the making of Paddington 2 at the film world premiere. The playful and magical atmosphere of the film was recreated on the red carpet, with plenty of jam jars, jugglers, and live music inspired by Paddington’s South American background.
Ben Whishaw, Hugh Bonneville, Julie Walters and Hugh Grant were among the stars on the red carpet.
About the film
Paddington 2’ continues the adventures of the little bear from darkest Peru, now that he’s a permanent member of the Brown family and a popular member of the local community.
His Aunt Lucy’s 100th birthday is coming up, and he’s trying to find the perfect present for her. A unique, antique book could be exactly what he needs – but when a dastardly thief snatches it, it’s up to Paddington and the Browns to catch him and get it back.
The eagerly-awaited sequel to the smash hit original, ‘Paddington 2’ sees our favourite bear carrying on spreading joy (and marmalade) wherever he goes.
