Trailers

“There are moments in a rock star’s life that define who he is…”

Having wowed as Eddie ‘the Eagle’ in the 2015 movie of the same name, Kingsman star Taron Egerton now turns his talents to another British legend: the one and only Elton John. And he’s absolutely killed it if this short but packed teaser trailer is anything to go by. We already knew Egerton could sing of course (he proved this with, um, Sing) but watching him belt out Rocketman (sounding just like Sir Elton) will send shivers down your spine. First Freddie, now Elton. We just need a Bowie biopic to complete the Holy Trinity.

At long last, we’ve got a Captain Marvel trailer. So was it worth the wait? By golly, yes. We learn so much about the 21st film in the MCU, including the fact that it’s definitely set in the 1990s (how we miss you Blockbuster Video!), that Samuel L. Jackson is apparently ageless (he returns as S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Nick Fury) and that Brie Larson is going to absolutely blow our minds as the renegade soldier “from above”.

Master manipulator M Night Shyamalan debuted the trailer for Glass, the superhero crossover film nobody was expecting! 18 years after his deconstruction of the genre in Unbreakable, the director brings back Bruce Willis as David Dunn and Samuel L Jackson as Elijah Price (AKA Mr Glass), plus James McAvoy’s Kevin Wendell Crumb (and his other 23 personalities) from 2016’s hit thriller Split. The footage had audiences super-hyped to see how the worlds collide. We can’t wait for this Beast to be unleashed…

The first trailer was revealed for DC’s eagerly awaited superhero movie, Shazam!, and it went down a storm. It sees 14-year-old foster kid Billy Batson (Asher Angel) transformed into an adult superhero (Zachary Levi) every time he shouts the word, you guessed it, “shazam”. Looking for a super-hero action movie with a teen comedy twist? Just say the magic word.

First there was Godzilla, then Kong: Skull Island, now the latest movie from Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures’ MonsterVerse roars to life in its first official trailer. This time Up in the Air’s Vera Farmiga and Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown are onboard to help save the world, with Godzilla’s Sally Hawkins also returning. Brown may have taken on the Demogorgon, but the footage teases glimpses of even more terrifying mythical beasties including Mothra, Rodan, King Ghidorah and, of course, the mighty Godzilla. This is one monster mash you won’t want to miss.

The unfinished, exclusive LEGO Movie 2 footage shown gave attendees a new glimpse at the now-apocalyptic LEGO world--basically, it's Mad Max with LEGOs.  Most importantly, the clip introduced us to Rex Dangervest, a new character also voiced by Chris Pratt, who among his many jobs is a "raptor trainer," a cute little Jurassic World joke. Unlike the first LEGO Movie, which was directed by Chris Miller and Phil Lord, the follow-up will be helmed by Mike Mitchell. It's set five years after the first film and, along with those mentioned above, the cast consists of Jonah Hill (Green Lantern), Will Arnett (Batman), Channing Tatum (Superman), and Stephanie Beatriz (Sweet Mayhem).
